Irene Soléa Antonellis, MA, LPC, LMHC, CIRT (She/Her) is a psychotherapist, music therapist, coach, educator, and vocal artist with over two decades of experience supporting individuals and couples in deep, transformative work. She is widely recognized for her integrative, relational approach and is sought out by individuals and couples looking for depth, heart-full precision, and lasting change.

At the core of Irene’s work is the understanding that meaningful healing happens in relationship. She creates a space that is safe, focused, and attuned—where clients feel deeply seen and where even longstanding patterns can begin to shift with clarity and care.

Her approach weaves together Brainspotting, Imago Relationship Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC), DBT, and somatic/body-based approaches such as Wheel of Consent and Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Therapy (SMART). Her background in music, the expressive arts, and spiritual practice brings a distinctive depth to her work, offering access points into healing that extend beyond traditional talk therapy.

Irene works with individuals, couples, families, and groups internationally. She is especially known for her work with:

  • complex relational dynamics
  • couples in high-conflict or high-stakes transitions
  • high-performance and high-profile professionals
  • creative process and coaching for artists/musicians
  • first-gen individuals and cross-cultural couples
  • anxiety, trauma, and PTSD
  • depression and emotional dysregulation
  • fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum experiences
  • grief, loss, and significant life transitions

Clients often experience Irene as both incisive and deeply compassionate—someone who can quickly understand and shift complex dynamics and respond with grounded insight, creativity, directness, depth, and humor.

Irene previously served as a Clinical Director within the Justice Resource Institute and holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Music Therapy from Lesley University. She completed advanced training in Traumatic Stress Studies at The Trauma Center in Boston under the direction of Bessel van der Kolk, M.D. She is a licensed psychotherapist (LPC, LMHC), board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), certified Brainspotting practitioner, and Certified Imago Relationship Therapist (CIRT), and she regularly presents her work at national and international conferences.

As a bilingual and bicultural clinician, Irene is deeply committed to serving Spanish-speaking individuals and families across the U.S. and Latin America, as well as immigrant populations.

She lives and works between Ann Arbor, Boston, Chiang Mai, and Lima, Peru. Outside of her clinical work, she spends time traveling, sharing music, and being with her husband, physician-anthropologist and author Scott Stonington, and their two daughters.

Irene maintains a selective caseload in order to offer highly attentive, in-depth work. Prospective clients are invited to inquire about current availability.

She welcomes clients of all races, ethnicities, national origins, religions, sex, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
